Developments are moving fast with the recently revealed Jason Reitman-led Ghostbusters project, which aims to continue the story from the first two Ghostbusters movies, while mostly aborting the 2016 version’s events.
This Ghostbusters movie will be set in the present day, but the events that happened in the 80’s films will still have happened in this film. With that being said, it’s not clear if Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson will star in the film in some form or fashion.
At this point in time Reitman is being tight-lipped about the project. All he’s said is, “This is very early, and I want the film to unwrap like a present,” Reitman continued. “We have a lot of wonderful surprises and new characters for the audience to meet.”
If I were a betting man, I’d guess that at least one of the original stars will be back, and it’ll probably be Dan, but like the new Star Wars trilogy, I think the OG cast will be used as mentors to possibly establish a new generation of Ghostbusters.
The film is due out during the summer of 2020, you can check out the first teaser above.
