Jon Stewart Bids Farewell to the TV News Desk

When Jon Stewart took over as The Daily Show host, I was a wide-eyed, bushy-tailed teen going through the awkward phases that all thirteen year-olds must endure as a rite of passage. For the next sixteen years, my generation grew up with Stewart. He was there like clockwork, always ready with a joke at the expense of some politician, country, or inane act some human perpetrated. He interviewed countless guests, opened the doors for a plethora of correspondents, and always left us with a Moment of Zen.

Last night was Stewart’s final show, and what better way to send him off than with all his correspondents from past and present that included a cameo from Senior Evil Correspondent Darth Vader. The show saw some of Stewart’s biggest targets taking shots at him before he moves on, as well as appearances by Rob Riggle, Ed Helms, and a heartfelt, off-script speech by Stephen Colbert.

It’s alway interesting when something we’ve come to take for granted exits stage left. Seeing a new face behind the desk might be a bit of a shock when the show returns, but fans everywhere can thank Stewart for his dedication to his craft as he’s earned his own Moment of Zen.
