Jotun Creators Reveal Sundered, A Horrifying Hand-Drawn Epic

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of reviewing Thunder Lotus Games’ Jotun: Valhalla Edition. The same minds behind the visual beaut are at it again with Sundered, completely drawn by hand from horrifying head to eldritch toe.

“Resist or Embrace.” The dichotomy between these two human responses is the core of Sundered‘s conflict. You play as Eshe, a lone nomad in a world ravaged by a horde of macabre horrors. Encounters with gigantic monstrosities separate the battles between Eshe and the overwhelming swarm of small(er)-time, demonic beings. Fighting for survival comes at the cost of your own humanity, and multiple in-game endings join a group of corruptible abilities to alter each player’s experience accordingly. Creative Director and President of Thunder Lotus Games Will Dubé says:

“I’m extremely excited to announce Thunder Lotus’ brand new game. Sundered is a game that builds on the strengths of Jotun: hand‐drawn art, epic boss battles and great immersion. With Sundered, we’ve added more complex mechanics, tons of replayability and meaningful choices. Finally, we’ve gone into a darker universe, heavily inspired by Lovecraft’s writings.”

Give the reveal trailer above and the screenshots below a gander and let us know what you think! If you’re interested, check out Thunder Lotus‘ website to stay updated on the game’s progress.

Sundered will release in 2017 on PS4, PC, Mac, and Linux.
