Kickstarter Staff Pick Rogue Invader Gets an Awesome Looking Monochromatic Trailer

Squishy Games’ Rogue Invader just got a new gameplay trailer, and it’s easily one of the most unique looking games you’ll probably see in 2015. The reason for this is the game has a monochromatic visual design that both makes it look retro yet new, so it’s a kind of a graphical mind fuck. It really does look beautiful just in black and white, which says a ton about the art direction.

The game itself has eight days to go on Kickstarter, so you can still pledge your support to get early access to the game. Even if it doesn’t get funded the developers are committed to finishing the game and bringing it to retail, which speaks volumes about Squishy Games’ dedication to Rogue Invader.

The game itself features a roguelike side-scrolling shooter experience that looks a bit like Contra, albeit in black and white with modern visuals, which is odd to say about a game without color. You play as a member of the First Fleet who has been tasked by the Galactic Council to take on the Zeno forces on their homeworld, and if that name seems familiar to what aliens are called in a film franchise, just wait until you see what Rogue Invader’s Zenos look like. Let’s just say there’s some very clear inspirations present.
