It seems Kingston excels at backing champions, because its competitive gaming teams of Cloud 9 HyperX and Team SoloMid placed first and second respectively at the League of Legends North American regional finals. Their placings have qualified them for a chance to win the Summoner’s Cup, and over $2 million worth of prizes. Who ever said that it doesn’t pay to play video games?
The World Championships will kick off on September 15-17 for the group stages, with the quarterfinals taking place on September 23-24. If Cloud 9 and Team SoloMid manage to make it through those rounds they’ll be taking their Kingston sponsored selves to the semifinals in LA, which will be held on September 27-28. If their HyperX equipped gear matched with their gaming prowess pays off, then the squads will have a chance to participate in the finals in front of a live audience at the Staples Center on October 4th.
Team bios can be found after the break.
