Kojima’s MGS V: The Phantom Pain Trailer is an Emotional Ride

It’s impossible to ignore Hideo Kojima’s cinematic eye in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s final trailer. Directed and edited by Kojima, the recently released trailer is an emotional tour de force that is as smartly shot as it is impactful.

Early on, the trailer chronicles key moments from Metal Gear Solid through Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Fans of Kojima’s long-running series are sure to feel the emotional weight of the trailer, as they are brought on a memorable ride.

The trailer continues with Phantom Pain footage, as Quiet’s theme plays. There’s an air of tension that can best be described as “Kojima-esque” and it’s damn near perfect.

The trailer ultimately clocks in at just over five minutes, each moment of which is memorable.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release on September 1, 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
