Earlier this week, veteran video game developer Cliff Bleszinski and Boss Key announced LawBreakers, a free-to-play multiplayer shooter.
Today, the gaming world has been given its first real look at LawBreakers in action thanks to a gameplay trailer uploaded to the game’s official YouTube account.
LawBreakers pits teams of five against one another in frantic, fast-paced matches. Mixing low gravity and character-specific abilities, LawBreakers looks like it should have enough to entice fans of competetive first-person shooters.
On the other hand, it’s tough to look at the LawBreakers gameplay trailer and not feel an overwhelming sense of been there, done that. Just about everything in the trailer — from the environment shown to the weapons and character movement — feels like an element of Unreal Tournament or Tribes that has been appropriated for Boss Key’s game. This isn’t to say that there aren’t some interesting things going on in the trailer, of course, just that they were more interesting in the first few games that did them.
Also, if you haven’t pieced it together yet, the game is called LawBreakers because you’re either on the side of the law…or not. Go figure.
LawBreakers is coming out sometime in the near future.
