Legendary Pictures Has Picked Up Mass Effect Movie Rights

Well it’s official.  Mass Effect has been secured by Legendary to become a movie.  I hope this actually happens because if done right, the Mass Effect movie could be another OT Star Wars.  Unfortunately, I’m not putting much weight behind this announcement because as we saw with the Halo movie, production may never begin.  You’d think a Halo movie would be a done deal, but even with Peter Jackson involved it still fell through.

I guess the Arad brothers have interest in producing the Mass Effect movie, with ‘I Am Legend’ writer Mark Protosevich potentially penning the screenplay.  If he does do the screenplay I hope it’s better than ‘I Am Legend’.  That movie blew monkey ween.  Why not just use Drew Karpyshyn, the Mass Effect novel writer who also worked on the games?  That would probably make too much sense for Hollywood.  Stay tuned for more Mass Effect movie details.  You’ve been excited, but in the end probably just disappointed…
