Liam Neeson Open to Playing Force Ghost Qui-Gon if Called Upon
While Lucasfilm and Disney haven’t officially green lit a Kenobi standalone film, most of the world is running with the rumor that the picture will be a reality, so we’ve been getting news items about the potential film these past two weeks. Last week Ewan McGregor was hounded about his desire to reprise Obi-Wan if Kenobi indeed happens, and he said he’s down, but that nothing official is happening, so he’s hearing the same rumors fans are.
Today, thanks to an interview with Yahoo, it now appears that Liam Neeson would also reprise his iconic Star Wars role if called upon. While talking to Yahoo, Neeson was asked about the possibility of returning and he said:
“This is the first time I’m hearing of this. No one’s been in touch with me. I know in the Star Wars world anything is possible. In the first one, The Phantom Menace, I died but we know, you know, Jedis come back and stuff but no one’s been in touch. We’ll see.”
He doesn’t come right out and say “sign me up”, but he also doesn’t slam the door shut. It just sounds like he needs to be asked if the project does go down, and if he is I doubt he’d turn it down. A Force ghost Jinn makes perfect sense for a standalone Kenobi, so hopefully it does get officially announced, and that both of the TPM actors are back to reprise their Jedi roles. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
