Luke Skywalker Holds an Old Friend In International Poster for ‘The Last Jedi’

Today appears to be International Star Wars: The Last Jedi promotions day, because we’ve gotten a new trailer for the film, and now a new poster. While the trailer offered up a few new looks at the movie, the poster may hint at one of its biggest moments. Unlike the NA poster released on October 9, this International version has switched Rey’s and Luke’s positions, so now she is the prominent figure on the poster. That’s not the intriguing detail though, because Luke is now seen holding his and his Dad’s old lightsaber, which was hinted at in an Alamo Drafthouse promotion from over the weekend. Unlike that shot though, this one features Luke in his brown garb over his Jedi Master robes from The Force Awakens.

As you can see Luke is clearly in possession of his old lightsaber, and it is ignited. If we compare this poster to other Star Wars posters, then it probably is depicting an actual scene from the movie, so as we have speculated, Luke will be using a lightsaber at some point, and it now looks like he may use his old blade. That doesn’t mean he’s taking it back from Rey, maybe he his just showing her some moves, or possibly even recovered it after she loses it in a fight. Who knows, but this poster is a pretty good sign that we will indeed see Luke with his old lightsaber ignited at some point in time during The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
