UPDATE – I still love Mark by the way, but this has been debunked by the San Diego Tribune, so I got played like others. Good fun though, who cares.
I love Mark Hamill, let’s get that out of the way. I’ve been a fan since the 80’s, and as a kid I wanted to be his Luke Skywalker character, just like most younglings who grew up on a steady diet of the original Star Wars movies. I’ve followed his career in voicing the Joker and other non-Star Wars roles, and of course loved seeing him again as Luke in Star Wars Episode VII and Episode VIII. He’s also a great follow on Twitter if you have a sense of humor and may not agree with where our politics are going these days.
Anyway, this past weekend at SDCC, Hamill wanted to get in on the action on the show floor, but being a geek celebrity makes that a bit harder thanks to adoring fans who mob people like Mark if they step out in public. Instead of just shutting himself in his room, Mark opted to cosplay as Orange Vader, which if you look closely is a parody of President Trump. Orange Vader has the President’s trademark hair, golf club, and his own saying about making the Death Star great again. What’s even more fun about Hamill’s stunt is that fans were taking pictures of him without knowing it was Mark Hamill.
One geek, Brendan Bajillioz, snapped the Orange Vader and later found out through Hamill himself that he actually took a picture of the Luke Skywalker actor. It’s a pretty slick move by Mark, and I’m sure it made the fan’s day many times over. You can check out the action from Twitter below.

Kudos to Hamill for his stunt! This just goes to show that you never really know who may be behind an interesting looking cosplay costume at the next big Con.
