Sci-Fi Comic Books
Marvel has released a 15-second teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, which is the latest comic book franchise from its vaults to make it to the big screen. The full version of the trailer will air tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live at 11:35 p.m. EST.
Guardians of the Galaxy is based on the comic book series by Marvel that started back in 1969, and features an atypical cast of characters. Guardians is definitely more centered in the science fiction universe than many of the other Marvel films, and will feature a cast of characters from all over the galaxy. The main character is Peter Quill, who just so happens to have a stolen orb that has earned him a bounty to be placed on his head. He must avoid the powerful Ronan at all costs to save himself and the entire universe. To do so Quill must team up with an unlikely cast of characters that includes a gun wielding raccoon, and a tree man.
I’ll be the first one to admit that Guardians is a brand new series to me, but considering my love of all things space and galaxies, its tone may just be enough to have it resonate with myself and other sci-fi fans. The film is set to open on August 1, 2014.
Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro.
