mclaren_photoThe Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Michelle MacLaren has been signed on to direct and develop the solo Wonder Woman film. The signing caps off a lengthy negotiation process between MacLaren and Warner Bros. execs. Other candidates included Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland).

MacLaren was the top choice for Wonder Woman for good reason. Her all-star résumé includes directing credits on Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The X-Files, and Game of Thrones. She has won two Primetime Emmy Awards, was nominated four other times for a Primetime Emmy, won a Producers Guild of America Award, and received two other nominations for a PGA Award all from her work on Breaking Bad.

Gal Gadot will star as the Amazonian Princess, who will first appear in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Also attached to the film are producers Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder. Wonder Woman is currently scheduled for release June 23, 2017.
