Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 picks up after Jesse and the gang defeated the Wither Storm. Naturally, life for Jesse got a little bit more difficult now that she’s a hero and the leader of Beacontown. Jesse is not the only one busy, so is everyone else. After going on an epic adventure and saving the town everyone wants a piece of them. It seems as the group has drifted apart and Jesse doesn’t want that, but it’s inevitable at this point.
Jesse gets informed that Petra wants to see her right away. At this point you can stop and talk to the townspeople before meeting Petra or just go to the mines. Once you get to the mines the adventure really begins. There are zombies, creepers, and a llama. When Jesse is helping Petra finish up an errand, they find an unexplored area that leads to something bigger.
In true Telltale form, the first episode starts off slow and ends on a high note. The story is pretty straight forward and it’s pretty easy to pick up even if you didn’t play Minecraft: Story Mode Season 1. It’s still odd that Minecraft now has a story mode because Minecraft is all about crafting. Throughout the episode Jesse and Petra both long for their friendship to go back to normal now that Jesse is so busy. There will be crafting to do, which is odd for a choice driven game, but it wouldn’t be a Minecraft game if there wasn’t crafting involved.
Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 is a quick an easy game to get into. There isn’t exploring to be done. There are no resources to collect outside of what’s needed for the story. Which is a shame because it’s Minecraft after all. and There are some puzzles to be completed, but as always the episode is more about the choices you make. If you can get past the expected button mashing, then you might enjoy Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2. The episode ends in a big way and it will be nice to see if Jesse can get the gang back together for another adventure.
If you’re looking for something to play that doesn’t take up a lot of your time, then Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 is definitely the game for you. Of course there is a season pass available for purchase or you can buy each episode on it’s own. The first episode is available now.
