Telltale Games has been on something of a hot streak lately, adding their unique, narrative-driven touch to a number of popular franchises over the last year. From Fable in The Wolf Among Us, to Borderlands in Tales from the Borderlands and even Game of Thrones, it seems that when it comes to diving into new territory, Telltale is the best in the business.

It is with this stellar track record that the latest news from Telltale’s camp comes. In an announcement that will surely leaving many scratching their collective heads, Telltale Games has confirmed that it will be working with Mojang next year, bringing Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series to the gaming world.

According to the official press release, Minecraft: Story Mode will be an episodic, story-driven title similar to Telltale’s previous titles. In partnering with Mojang and members of the Minecraft community, Telltale will introduce ‘new characters and familiar themes’ to players in Minecraft: Story Mode.

Minecraft: Story Mode is set to be a standalone title that exists separate from the core game – similar to Tales from the Borderlands.
