Mona Simpson who is the sister of the late Steve Jobs has revealed his last words in a heartfelt eulogy she did for the New York Times. The full eulogy can be read here, and I definitely recommend reading through it, but what most surprised me about Simpson’s eulogy were Steve Jobs dying words. I’m sure most fans probably figured Steve went out by exchanging words of love to his family, or maybe even one last attack on his competitors, but that was not the case. Simpson revealed that Steve’s last words after looking over those by his deathbed were: “OH WOW. OH WOW. OH WOW.”
Take them for what they are. If your religious you might interpret them has Steve’s surprise at what he may have been experiencing while dying, you know the whole pearly gates deal. If you don’t believe in the after life maybe you’ll interpret it as him trying to hang on to life when his mind and body were on their way out. Regardless, I think they’re profound, and coming from a man like Jobs they could hint at what we all would like to know what happens to us when you pass away. Men like him don’t get too excited over anything, so I thought his exclamations of “OH WOW” to be quite revealing in regards to the impact of actually dying on ones mind. Check out Simpson’s summary of his final moments below, and head here if you want to read the entire eulogy. You’ve been wondering what the OH WOW moment must feel like…
Steve Jobs’ Last Words as told by Mona Simpson
“Before embarking, he’d looked at his sister Patty, then for a long time at his children, then at his life’s partner, Laurene, and then over their shoulders past them.
Steve’s final words were: OH WOW. OH WOW. OH WOW.”
