Marvel has been rumored to be chasing after Chiwetel Ejiofer (12 Years a Slave) to join Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Bruhl in the 2016 film, according to The Wrap. At this time his potential role in the film hasn’t been specified, but it seems likely that he’ll portray the Ancient One who was a mentor to Stephen Strange and potential villain Baron Mordo.
Is Ben Affleck’s Batman going to make an appearance in the upcoming Suicide Squad film? That’s a possibility, according to Forbes. There’s reports that Batman will appear in some sort of video, but now rumors are surfacing that he may make an appearance at the end of the film involving Jared Leto’s Joker. The film takes inspiration from Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns” series, which involves a Joker/Batman face-off, and could lead to a Batman vs. Joker film.
It’s also rumored that Warner Bros. is looking to replace Tom Hardy with either Joel Edgerton (Exodus, Warrior) or Jon Bernthal (Fury) as Rick Flag. Hardy left after finding out the character will not be a focal point, and Jake Gyllenhaal has since turned down the role.
Director Bryan Singer revealed the new cast members for his upcoming film, finding young actors to take over the roles of Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. Cyclops will be played by Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life, Mud), Alexandra Shipp (Days of Our Lives, Ray Donovan) as Storm, and Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, per CinemaBlend.
After spending twenty years of searching, Martin Scorsese has locked up funding for his adaptation of the novel “Silence” by Shusaku Endo. According to Deadline, financing was completed when Fábrica de Cine and SharpSword films joined in on producing. The film focuses on 17th Century Portuguese Jesuits facing intense persecution as they try to spread their faith in Japan. Production is set to being in Taiwan on January 30th, and stars Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, and Tadanobu Asano.
