I Am Chris Farley

The entertainment world lost Chris Farley back in 1997, and now we’re getting a documentary eighteen years in the making. The film interviews just about everyone who ever worked with Farley on SNL or in film, and takes a deeper look at the actor’s life behind the screen. I Am Chris Farley is scheduled for a July 31st release.

Steve Jobs

Michael Fassbender transforms into the tech mogul that changed the world in this upcoming film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Aaron Sorkin. Based on the best-selling biography by Walter Isaacson, the film highlights three iconic Apple launches amidst behind-the-scenes tension between him, Steve Wozniak (played by Seth Rogan), and just about everyone else Jobs comes into contact with. The film is scheduled for release on October 9th.

 London Has Fallen

The sequel to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen has a new trailer out this week. After the suspicious death of the British Prime Minister, all the world’s leaders attend the funeral only to fall into a plot to kill them all. Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman all return for the film, set to release early next year.

The Transporter Refueled

A new trailer for The Transporter Refueled has been released as the franchise moves on from Jason Statham. Frank Martin is now being played by Ed Skrein (who appears to be just as capable of subduing treacherous felons and requiring seatbelt clicks), as his “simple” job of being a transporter gets complicated when three lovely ladies enter the fray and his father is kidnapped. The film is set for release on September 4th.

Creed

Michael B. Jordan stars in the next-gen Rocky film, portraying Apollo Creed’s son as he and Rocky Balboa meet for the first time. Balboa takes Adonis Johnson Creed under his wing and teaches the way of the boxer and about the father Adonis never knew. The film is set for a November 25th release. Special shoutout to Wood Harris for bringing back Avon and his mustache.

Pinocchio

pinocchio

In a world where live-action films of classic stories are raking in the dough, Paul Thomas Anderson is teaming up with Warner Bros. and Robert Downey Jr to recreate the classic 1883 tale. Downey has been working on an idea for Pinocchio for some time, and decided to bring on his good friend in Anderson to write the script. Anderson and Downey were to work with in Inherent Vice before a scheduling conflict with Avengers: Age of Ultron forced Downey to pull out, making room for Joaquin Phoenix. Via THR

Kong: Skull Island

King Kong

Oscar winner J.K. Simmons and Oscar nominee Michael Keaton have both removed themselves from the upcoming King Kong movie. Production of the film has been delayed, and both actors expressed scheduling conflicts as their reasoning for departing from the film, which focuses on the homeland of the well-known monster. The film still has Tom Hiddleston in its lead cast, and is set for a March 2017 release. Via Latino-Review
