Netflix released a new video announcement (which you can see above), that provides the official date for their next Marvel related show. Jessica Jones isn’t a household name outside of dedicated comic book readers, but with the success of season one’s Daredevil, she’s bound to gain a few new fans.
To give a little background in the comic world, Jones was a student alongside Peter Parker during his transition into Spider-Man. Her father worked for Tony Stark, and after a car accident with a military truck carrying a radioactive substance, Jones was hospitalized and in a coma. She awoke from her coma when the Fantastic Four battled Galactus, and then learned to use her newfound super strength to fight crime.
While the synopsis to the show has been sealed tight, it’s safe to assume her origin will be explained either chronologically or with the use of flashbacks a la Daredevil. Either way, if Netflix and Marvel are able to replicate what they did with Daredevil, then we should have one fantastic show on our hands.
The show stars Krysten Ritter as the titular character, David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave, and Mike Colter as Luke Cage, who is Jones’ husband in the comics and will also be getting his own show in this Marvel series.
Be sure to binge watch the series when it’s released on Netflix on November 20th.
