What gamer in their late 20’s or 30’s doesn’t remember the Mortal Kombat craze of the early 90’s? I myself remember spending hours upon hours at the Ross Park Mall arcade, dropping quarters like they were hot into the original Mortal Kombat arcade machine. I’d say Mortal Kombat was my first crack at competitive gaming, and it’s definitely one of my most favorite games of all time. Oh the memories, and who doesn’t love fatalities?
For our spine ripping pleasure, Warner Bros. in conjunction with the series creator Ed Boon, are teaming up on a new 2D enhanced version of Mortal Kombat. From the looks of the trailer it seems to be reminiscent of MKI and MKII, which are by far the best entries in the Mortal Kombat franchise. There will also be new gameplay types to accompany this series reboot, such as co-op and a deeper single-player campaign.
I’m not much of a Fighter fan anymore, although when I think about it Fighters were the games I grew up playing, so maybe this newest MK project can get me back to my roots. The teased fatalities look awesome! Man I love graphical violence!! Check out the destruction for yourself below…
