The news and rumors were flying at NYCC this past weekend and there are a lot of things to look forward to in the future for comics. This week there isn’t a large number of big things but there are still some notable events. Death of Wolverine comes to a close and AXIS rolls on. Most of DC’s output is continuing stories for New 52 Futures End, Batman Eternal, Earth 2 Worlds End, Green Lantern’s “New Gods Godhead”, and Teen Titans #3. Marvel puts out more of their miniseries plus Avengers World #14, Daredevil #9, Hulk #7, Magneto #11, Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man #6, Spider-Man 2099 #5, and Uncanny X-Men #27.
Justice League #35 (DC)
Start of the next adventure for the JL as “The Amazo Virus” starts, which issue #35 is the last for Ivan Reis. But that’s okay because he’s being replaced by Jason Fabok (Detective Comics, some Batman Eternal). If you read issue #34, then you know that not all is as it seems in the Justice League and now they have to deal with a dangerous virus. But it’s not the Doomsday Virus, that’s stuck in a black hole.
Deadly Class #8 (Image)
So not only is there a high school for trained killers set in the 1980’s but issue #8 opens up with there is now a SECOND high school for trained killers! If these two schools face off in a knife fight with “Beat It” playing my head might explode.
Death of Wolverine #4 (Marvel)
Ostensibly, this is it. The previous three issues were chock full of callbacks and character moments for the Canucklehead, but this is at least the final issue of the Death of Wolverine mini-series, which one would think would be loaded with action and the eventual ‘death’ of the titular character.
Batman and Robin #35 (DC)
Armed to the teeth, Batman makes his was to Apokolips to attempt and rescue the body of his deceased son. However, as we saw in the Batman and Robin Futures End #! one-shot, somewhere in the future there is a new Robin. Is this closure for Batman and his son or is there more adventure left?
Fantastic Four #11 (Marvel)
It’s clobberin’ time for the Thing when he’s stuck in a prison full of superpowered beings in which the prison possess a power dampener and is also holding She-Thing. Rumors seem to suggest that the Fantastic Four book will soon be cancelled for the forseeable future so odds are things will soon ramp up.
