What do The Pursuer and an Ogre have in common?

According to Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin’s recently released screenshots, they both want to kill you. At the same time.

The upcoming release of what is essentially a new and improved version of last year’s Dark Souls IIScholar of the First Sin has a lot to offer to veteran Souls fans and newcomers alike. From improved visuals, to an expanded narrative, entirely new enemy placement (Pursuer and Ogre insanity), and even a brand new NPC invader known as Forlorn.

Dark Souls II fans are no cowards when it comes to a challenge, so the promise of mixing up enemy placement in order to create dastardly new encounters should be a welcome addition to Scholar of the First Sin. For newcomers, there is no better way to get accustomed to the unforgiving world of the Souls games than a little trial by fire.

In preparation for the April 7, 2015 release of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, From Software and Bandai Namco have released a new patch to Dark Souls II, introducing players to ‘The Scholar’, who will add information regarding story elements to the experience.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will release on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
