Sony has put out a new sneak peek for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and while I’d argue using the word extended is a bit over-the-top for a sub 1-minute video, I’ll still concede that the footage is worth checking out.
Parts of this new look have definitely aired in other previews, but the last 10-seconds or so may be new. I just love any chance I get to check out this movie’s unique visual style, which seems to blend cel-shaded animation with a stop motion feel to it. It’s hard to explain, but the animations don’t movie fluidly, they seem slowed down a bit to provide the illusion that we’re watching an animated comic book in action or something. Of course the vibrant color palette is easy on the eyes and intoxicating to look at too.
If anything else, this film’s plot seems very interesting as it aims to pull in multiple different versions of Spider-Man from the various alternate universes he’s been depicted in. The film hits theaters on December 14, 2018.
