New Music Monday for 4-27-15
Zac Brown Band – Jekyll + Hyde
The country rockers return with their fourth major-label release, lead by the single “Homegrown” (above). The band has found lots of success after its formation in 2002 that has included sixteen songs that reached the charts, and ten of those which hit number one. Jekyll + Hyde is likely to add to that list.
Blur – The Magic Whip
Look who’s back! Blur returns with a new record after a Boyhood-long twelve year hiatus and lead-singer Damon Albarn’s various side projects. The new album provides fans with an endorphin-rich euphoria after a much anticipated wait while jumping back on the Britpop train. It’s also been announced that Albarn’s other band – The Gorillaz – will return in 2016 after speculation that they were finished.
Raekwon – F.I.L.A
Fly International Luxurious Art has been waiting in the wings since 2012 when the Wu-Tang member started recording. Initially slated for a spring 2013 release, Raekwon chose to continue working on the album as he tried appealing to a worldwide audience with more features than his previous albums, including acts like Ghostface Killah, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky, Busta Rhymes, and 2 Chainz. He also spent time working on Wu-Tang’s most recent album – A Better Tomorrow – which caused some delay in his solo release.
Sam Cohen – Cool It
The Houston, Texas native and Apollo Sunshine member releases his first solo album this week. While not yet known by mainstream standards, Cohen has been making music since 1999 as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In fact, his solo album features him on every instrument, which is a pretty impressive feat. He mixes sounds of blues and psychedelic to provide a fairly unique sound.
