Here’s a dose of what’s on tap for this week:

MAGIC! – Don’t Kill the Magic

The debut album from the Toronto-based reggae-pop band comes out this week. Their hit single entitled “Rude” (above) has been all over the airways the past couple of months and is only growing in popularity. The band was also featured on Shakira’s self-titled album which was released three months ago.

Old Crow Medicine Show – Remedy

OCMS are back with their ninth studio album and get my pick of the week. The folk/country band collaborated again with Bob Dylan on the above track, similar to their work with Dylan’s unfinished “Wagon Wheel” a decade ago.

Levon Helm – The Midnight Rambling Sessions, Volume Three

The posthumous album is being released by Vangaurd Records/Levon Helms Studios. This record is a  collection of live performances from 2005-2010, featuring numerous guest artists such as Elvis Costello, Chris Robinson, and Jimmy Vivino to name a few.

The Vacant Lots – Departure

This is the first album for the psych-rock duo (think MGMT) out of Burlington Vermont. Created by Jared Artaud and Brian MacFayden, the two heavily use electronic drones as the base for the songs, while layering in drums, guitar, and lyrics for a unique sound.

Take some time to check out new music; you just might find your new favorite band.
