New Music Monday: Week of October 20th, 2014

Thurston Moore – The Best Day

The Sonic Youth frontman releases his fourth solo album this week. After experimenting with folk music for a couple albums, Moore reaches back to his roots and what helped put him on the musical map in the first place.

Billy Idol – Kings And Queens Of The Underground

Billy Idol returns with a new album, his first since his 2006 Christmas cover record. If you like the sound that made Idol famous, this album will take you back. The lyrics aren’t as great as they could be, but the sound is still there.

Cold War Kids – Hold My Home

The indie-rock band from Long Beach, California return with their anticipated fifth studio album. After a hit debut in 2006 with Robbers and Cowards, fans of CWK showed disappointment with the band’s following albums. The good news is that Hold My Home is a step in the right direction, and it earns my pick of the week.

Primus – Primus And The Chocolate Factory

All you need to know is that Primus’ new album is the entire soundtrack to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Enjoy!

Take some time to listen to some new music; you just might find your new favorite band.
