New Podcast: D.C.’s Awesome Con Lives Up to its Name

If Washington D.C.’s Awesome Con isn’t on your radar of truly excellent comic book and pop culture conventions, it absolutely should be. In its brief five years of existence, the convention has grown by leaps and bounds to become one of the premiere conventions on the East Coast, rivaling the likes of Orlando and Philadelphia comic cons in terms of size, and boasting an ever-more-impressive lineup of guests, vendors, and panelists.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet the likes of David Tennant, Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Phil Lamar, Shinsuke Nakamura, Charlotte Flair, Felicia Day, Nolan North, and the almighty Stan Lee; attend panels on topics ranging from homophobia in fandoms to the technology of Batman; and buy merch from hundreds of local and international artists.

EB’s Managing Editor Zach Bennett and I had the opportunity to attend the convention this past weekend (June 16-18, 2017). We browsed the show floor, sat in on some panels, and geeked out something fierce. In this episode, we recount some of our favorite moments from Awesome Con, compare it to other conventions that we’ve attended, and look forward to what we’d like to see from future conventions.
