New Star Wars Show Will Focus on Post “Return of the Jedi” Stories
I mentioned a few weeks back that a new Star Wars animated sitcom was in the works, but there weren’t many details surrounding it besides that Seth Green would be involved. It seems at some sort of geek event in the vane of Comic-con, or Star Wars Celebration, Steve Sansweet, a Lucasfilm insider, made some enlightening remarks in regards to future Star Wars projects.
During one of the exhibits’ Q&A sessions a Star Wars fan asked Sansweet, “I would really love to see new adventures after Jedi with our favorite characters Luke, Han and Leia,” to which Steve replied, “And you will, in the new animation.” Do you think that’s in reference to the sitcom, or a new animated series that’s similar to “The Clone Wars”, which currently airs on Cartoon Network?
Bestofluckproductions.com also confirms that Steve Sansweet cemented the fact that Lucasfilm will be revisiting the original cast of Star Wars characters. You know, the “real” Star Wars characters, not the whiny, robot-like, weenies from the prequels. I hate those bastards, they made Darth Vader look like a weenie.
BOL.com also reported that Sansweet made mention that not all characters stay dead in sci-fi stories. He mentioned that we will all see what he means in 3-4 years. I’m guessing he is referring to the Emperor since he has been resurrected many times in Expanded Universe stories, but that’s just my intuition.
It’s all promising news. I’m not too sure I really want to see a sitcom using our ROTJ cast, but that may be in fact what all this speculation is about. I’d much prefer this post ROTJ production be similar to what the current Clone Wars cartoon is today. I may not be a big fan of the prequels, but “The Clone Wars” is one of the better mediums used to tell the past of the Star Wars universe, so if the post ROTJ show is done in this manner it is bound to be entertaining.
For old times sake check out the original trailers for the real Star Wars movies below. You have to love the ghetto 70’s and early 80’s movie trailers. Han Solo even does the voice-over for “The Empire Strikes Back”!
“A New Hope” – Ultra Ghetto Trailer, but still awesome.
“The Empire Strikes Back” – Semi-ghetto trailer with Han Solo as announcer.
“The Return of the Jedi” – Still ghetto but it gets me all mushy inside thinking about how awesome the OT is.
May the force be with you…
