Gameloft has announced that it will be releasing a The Amazing Spider-Man 2 mobile game for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices.

This open-world game will contain an original story that is separate from the film it’s based on, and the size and scope will be slightly larger than the first Amazing Spider-Man game for mobile devices. Players will be able to freely roam the city, and won’t be pigeoned holed into a rigid mission structure.

According to Karine Kaiser, VP Marketing & Licensing at Gameloft, making a sequel was a no brainer, “After the tremendous success of the first The Amazing Spider-Man mobile game, we’re excited to be working with Marvel again to bring the fan-favorite hero back onto smartphones with The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Kaiser went on to say that, “Players will enjoy a deep open-world adventure and iconic web-spinning action that makes Spider-Man so extraordinary.”

At this time a price has yet to be set for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 mobile game, but if it’s like any other Gameloft release, it very well may be free, or at least go on sale for $.99 at some point during its life cycle. This mobile tie-in should release alongside the theatrical film, so expect to see it in the various mobile device app stores towards the end of April.

You can head on down past the break to check out some pretty spiffy looking screenshots for the game, and don’t forget to watch the trailer above to see it in action.
