New Video Game Releases for the Week of 10-15-17

Tuesday claims almost every ounce of attention this week as it brings with it a number of highly anticipated games. The most notable? Well, South Park: The Fractured But Whole fits the bill, but there’s still quite a bit coming out for those apathetic towards the show (and its games).

Gran Turismo Sport, NBA 2K18 (Switch), and WWE 2K18 all come out on Tuesday, so those looking to scratch that sports game-itch will have quite a few options to do so this week. Rogue Trooper Redux is the video game adaptation of a highly praised comic book series and offers a couple interesting gameplay mechanics to keep combat interesting. You can imbue your weapon, helmet, and backpack with brain chips from the fallen, enhancing your abilities on the battlefield and inevitably turning you into a one-man army-type of super warrior.

Brawhalla is a 2D brawler coming to PC and PS4 on Tuesday, as well. It’s a free grab, so it may be worth checking out just based on the price point. Jackbox Party Pack 4 releases on Tuesday, too, with a Switch version coming this Thursday. Life is Strange: Before the Storm gets its second episode on the same day. And Fire Emblem Warriors comes to the 3DS and Switch on Friday, which is a good week for the game to shine before the deluge of new games coming in the week following this one (the end of October is going to be insane).

Oh, and there’s Sea of Fatness coming to PC this week, a game I commend for the name alone. After checking out the trailer, I’m more confused than I was when I read the title. Check it out for yourselves down below. Honestly, I’m pretty captivated by it, but I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing.

As always, everything is for PC unless stated otherwise, and the bold titles are the games that have piqued my interest.

The author Zachery Bennett

Zach's eternal preoccupation with video games became cemented at an early age. His first memorable journey away from reality began with a text-based Football game on a dirty Apple II; he's chased fantasy ever since. Having took English classes as electives in college, Zach decided to pull the trigger on a merger between the two obsessions.
