After last week’s heavy releases, which included the return to horror by acclaimed director Shinji Mikami in The Evil Withias well as Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, it should come as no surprise that this week’s new video games releases are decidedly less interesting. This is not to say that there aren’t a lot of great games coming out this week, however, as Platinum Games’ The Legend of Korra looks to entertaining with its brilliant blend of cel shaded beat ’em up combat, while Bayonetta 2 finally launches for the Wii U. Gamers who wants their action a even more over the top will be pleased to see the release of Shadow Warrior on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as Samurai Warriors 4’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 launch.

This week also promises to be an exciting one for musical game lovers. The Voice: I Want You, Just Dance 2015, Rocksmith 2014 Edition, and even Fantasia: Music Evolved all release within a few days of one another.

Our Recommendation

If you own a Wii U, there is no reason not to pick up Bayonetta 2 when it releases on October 24, 2014. The vast majority of reviews for the game so far have been overwhelmingly positive, with scores all hovering around 9-10. The sleek combat and impressive visuals of Bayonetta 2, along with its unique brand of action combat and the stylish moves of the titular witch are enough to warrant turning on the Wii U once more to play through what is sure to be one of this year’s biggest sleeper hits.
