There definitely isn’t a shortage of new video game releases this week, but that doesn’t mean you have to feel obligated to spend cash on a new title. In fact, this week’s bulky lineup of new games to play is quite light in the “must-play” department. The games to focus on this week are Axiom Verge for the PS4, Bombshell for the PC and PS4, Paperbound for the PC and PS4, Wander for the PS4, MLB 15: The Show for the PS3, PS4, and Vita, and Magnetic: Cage Closed for the Xbox One and PS4. If you didn’t notice, any platform that doesn’t start with a “P” is lacking in new games to play this week, so if you find yourself on the Xbox side of things you may want to hold off on any new purchases, or check out the “Ultimate” compilation packs releasing for the 360 and PS3.

The PC scene, as always, is abundant with new titles, but gamers should be cautions while wading through them, because having multiple options does’t always mean that each of the new releases will be worth your while. The Nintendo family of consoles are also lacking in worthy new releases, so just keep playing what you have been if you game on those systems.

Our Recommendation

If you’re a fan of the Indie game movement you should definitely check out Axiom Verge, Wander, Magnetic: Cage Closed, or Paperbound. Each of them offer different types of gameplay experiences that range from nostalgic retro gaming to fast and frenetic local multiplayer brawlers. Bombshell looks radical too, but I didn’t get a chance to test it out at PAX East, so I can’t fully support it as a must-buy at this time.
