This week’s new video game releases are diverse, but may not be considered must play if you catch my drift. The big name release of the week is the first of three planned Assassin’s Creed Chronicles titles, which will take place in China and feature a 2.5D approach to the franchise.

Killing Floor 2 hits Early Access on the 21st and promises to feature more blood and guts than have ever been seen in a video game. Sony fans can get their hands on Shovel Knight, which now features Kratos for the PS3, PS4, and Vita versions of the game. Mario Kart 8 enthusiasts can also pick up the Animal Crossing inspired DLC pack this week for the Wii U.

As always there are more than a few PC releases to check out, which you can find after the break.

Our Recommendation

This is a great week to hold on to your cash, but the allure of a new style of Assassin’s Creed game is also quite strong, so Chronicles should be considered if you need a new game to play. If you haven’t been able to play Shovel Knight you should plan on picking him up for your Sony branded gaming machine. The Animal Crossing DLC for Mario Kart 8 is also loaded with new content.
