New Video Game Releases: What Gamers Want for the Week of 9-7-14

Well gamers, Destiny is upon us, literally; the summer video game new release drought is ending this week thanks to Bungie’s first new IP since giving up the Halo franchise. Destiny is easily the go-to choice for a new video game purchase this week, but there are a few others dropping for those of you that haven’t been impressed by what Destiny has to offer.

The most prominent new release outside of Destiny is NHL 15, which is coming out for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. The other new releases are an eclectic mix of titles for the PC, Wii U, and 3DS platforms. Velocibox, Worlds of Magic, and Fable Anniversary are all releasing for PCs this week. Teslagard is dropping for the Wii U, while The Keep is coming out for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s plain to see that most publishers knew that Destiny was releasing this week, which is why the lineup is a bit weak.

Our Recommendation

The choice is easy, grab Destiny for whichever console you own. There’s no doubt that Bungie’s pedigree will shine through, and based on the Alpha and Beta there’s no reason to think that this game will suck in any fashion. If being a space guardian isn’t your cup of tea you could shoot for NHL 15, but just be wary of that iteration as many have reported that it feels a bit stripped down this year. If you feel like a bit of nostalgia then Fable Anniversary for the PC isn’t a bad choice.
