Nintendo is certainly making it known that they love the Switch, and they want us to love it too, with all of the trailers and featurettes and everything that we’ve gotten. That’s absolutely fine, though, because I haven’t been this excited for a Nintendo product since the original Nintendo DS, and that was, well, a while ago.

This time around we’re getting a slightly closer look at the hardware of the system, the TV mode, the Joy-Con controllers, the kick-stand, etc. With a big emphasis on split-screen modes and sharing the controllers and everything, I think that they could be ushering in a revitalization of local gaming. For the last few years, couch co-op and multiplayer has become kind of a thing of the past, but the Switch looks to correct that. Not only can you share the controllers on one screen, but up to 8 Switches can be connected locally at a time for multiplayer games, like a weird new version of a LAN party.

Check out the video above and let us know what you think of the new console and if you’ll be picking one up!
