This is without a doubt one of the most exciting weeks for Nintendo fans this summer, provided you have already purchased some of this year’s biggest games. Super Smash Bros and Splatoon both got major content overhauls this week that we’ll go into detail on later in this segment. First up though, is the surprising announcement of a classic title hitting the Wii U eShop this week.
Golden Sun: Lost Age is now available on the Wii U Virtual Console, and comes highly recommended. As a successor to the beloved Golden Sun, Lost Age offers a unique spin that few games have ever mimicked. Instead of continuing the first game’s story, this title runs in a different world where you actually have to square off against the heroes of the original. Maybe if this game gets serious buzz on the eShop, we can finally see Isaac in Smash. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
Splatoon’s big August update is finally upon us and brings with it a wealth of new content to explore. There are over 40 new pieces of gear to obtain, including the Squid Girl costume, and the level cap has been brought up to 50 from the previous 20. With team matchmaking now an option, you’ll probably be spending even more time in this game now.
Super Smash Bros. also recently got a significant update, which finally added tournament mode! The much-requested feature has been missing since launch, but is now available for no additional cost. Also added are two new classic maps you can purchase, Peach’s Castle and Hyrule Castle from the N64, as well as new Mii Outfits.
