Not Good for Productivity: Sid Meier’s Civ World Lands on Facebook

I’ve managed to stay far removed from the wildly popular games that show up on Facebook, but I may have to rethink my strategy now that a Civilization game has landed on its pages.  For anyone that has ever played any of Sid Meier’s Civilization games you know exactly what I’m talking about.  The whole “one last turn motif” of the Civ games has caused many gamers to lose sleep, gain weight, die in a chair, get divorced, and all kinds of unproductive things that can impact a gamer’s life.  Well now Civilization fans have a whole new medium to get their Civ-fix from in Facebook.

Civ World is still in beta, but it is up and running on FB.  Well it’s up at least.  I couldn’t launch it earlier because it kept crashing, which is probably due to the fact that every geek in the world is trying to get in on the Civ World action.  I definitely plan on giving it a go, but I’m wondering if it’ll keep me glued to the screen like Civ 4, or the console version Civ Revolutions.  I’m weary about FB games, but I think this one may be worth the pain, at least to check out.  If you don’t want to try it yourself you can take a look at some video demos below.  Man this could be dangerous.  You’ve just realized that your productivity may go into the sh*tter…
