Open Source Model Bites Android Market in the A*s!

My little green Android buddy has just received his first public shaming after 50 apps have been identified as Malware on the Android Market.  For those of you that don’t speak geek Malware = nasty sh*t.  Anyway, due to the open source model that Google has taken with the Android platform and its app market, some f*ck face hackers have started taking advantage of it by uploading apps that can root your phone without knowing.  Basically, if you installed one of these shady apps there’s a good chance that some loser sitting in his Mom’s basement in a grease stained wife beater could have access to everything about your phone.  Total ball punch feeling for us Android owners!

I love the open nature of Android, but maybe Google needs to form some type of vetting process for 3rd-party applications.  As long as they don’t implement a police state for their devices like Apple has, I’m fine with a little control.  Unfortunately, this security risk has gotten a little bit of dirt on the otherwise clean and friendly Android OS.  Apple fans now have something real to latch on to when they bash Fandroids, which is sad.  Before now they could just nitpick at the platform, but now they really do have some solid criticism for the technology, and trust me they are loving every minute of it (Ralph from the Howard Stern show tweet on the matter).

Check out the full list of Malware infected apps below.  Google has removed all of them from the Market, and they’re trying to pull them from user’s phones as well.  If you do have one of these apps installed they are recommending that you reset your device back to factory settings, which really sucks Bigfoot nuts!  Oh well, Android will prevail!  Long live open source technology!  You’ve known that Apple fanboys have been salivating for the chance to poke fun at Google’s mobile OS…
