The first image of Michael Fassbender for the Assassin’s Creed movie has been released, along with a synopsis. Fassbender is playing Callum Lynch, who discovers that he’s a descendent of the Assassins society. His ability to unlock genetic memories allow him to live out the adventures of his ancestor in Spain during the 15th century. Using these memories and new outlook will allow Lynch to fight against the Templar enemies in present day.
Fans of the series may be bummed that this character is completely unrelated to any of the games, as many were expecting or hoping. While it’s clear now that the film has taken a different direction, the spirit of the game – along with the cool hidden blades – is there for gaming fans and newcomers alike. Assassin’s Creed begins filming next week, and is expected in theaters December 2016.
