Variety caught up with Frank Oz at SXSW to talk about his new documentary called, Muppet Guys Talking: Secrets Behind the Show the Whole World Watched. During the interview he was asked about Yoda, who he has brought to life since Empire Strikes Back, and the potential for him being in The Last Jedi. While Oz deflected the question, his response definitely leaves the door open for the deceased Jedi Master to appear in some form in The Last Jedi.
When asked about reprising Yoda in the new Star Wars films Oz said, “I feel like I’m a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I’ve been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me.”
Just stew on that for a second. Ready?
The fact that he is so secretive about it and essentially reveals he can’t talk about it because someone asked him not to, definitely leads one to believe that he is involved in some capacity. He also went on to say that at some point he will be allowed to talk about it, so again I believe there’s a strong chance Yoda will be in The Last Jedi.
