Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios released a press release today talking about the newest game they are working on. These companies have partnered with Wizards of the Coast to prepare for the creation of a brand new RPG based in one of the most popular gaming universes, Magic the Gathering.

With a following of nearly 20 million players, Magic the Gathering is one of the biggest and most influential games to ever exist. The new game is being developed from the ground up for both PC and home consoles. This new game extends the current partnership between Perfect World, Cryptic and Wizards of the Coast, which has already brought together nearly 15 million Neverwinter players and counting. Players will be able to fully immerse themselves in the world of Magic the Gathering. Additional details, including the game’s title will be revealed at a later date. The aim is to develop a AAA quality title set in this amazing, diverse, Multi-verse of planes. I, for one, cannot wait until more details surface for this game, I think we as Magic fans have been waiting a long time for something like this!
