PlayStation Live Explores ‘Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood’ Expansion in PS4 Preview

Ash Thukral of Square Enix has a lot to say about Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood, the upcoming expansion to the franchise’s second MMO entry.

While Ash talks about the game at E3 2017’s PlayStation Live, some footage of the game playing in the background interrupts the conversation. The new Primal encounter introduces a new battle mechanic that requires players to mash the action button in order to defend against a deadly attack. Interactive battle mechanics like this are few and far between the MMO landscape, so it’s always nice to see something new introduced.

Otherwise, they talk about the game’s story as a whole and its relevance as a main entry of the series. The new jobs, Samurai and Red Mage, are then briefly brought up before talking about the great controller support Final Fantasy 14 boasts.

June 20th is the day Stormblood drops. Pre-order it? Good news: you can start playing this Friday.
