Playtonic Games Lands Partnership With Team17 For Yooka-Laylee

Team17, leading independent developer and digital publisher responsible for Worms, has partnered with developer Playtonic Games for Yooka-Laylee‘s multiplatform release next year.

Yooka-Laylee is a 3D platformer from the very same developer that brought us Banjo-Kazooie, so expectations for their new release are immense. This partnership further increases the funds gathered from Yooka-Laylee‘s wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, granting Playtonic Games all the resources they need to reach their full potential as a developer.

The benefits of this corporate brotherhood are astounding. More funds leads to more QA testing, more rewards for Kickstarter backers, and generally more quality in the final product. Even the soundtrack to the game will benefit from the enlarged pool of support. Grant Kirkhope (Banjo Kazooie) makes his anticipated return as composer alongside Steve Burke (Kameo: Elements of Power), and David Wise (Donkey Kong Country series).

When the credentials behind the soundtrack alone are enough to spark interest, it’s easy to understand why so many people are looking forward to Yooka-LayleeOctober 2016 is the projected time frame for release on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, Linux, and Mac; and it couldn’t get here fast enough.
