Portal: No Escape is a Live Action Masterpiece

Dan Trachtenberg has created one of the finest videogame based live action shorts I’ve ever seen in Portal: No Escape.  Valve fans and Portal fanboys alike will get that funny feeling in their crotch while watching this short, because it is that damn good!  I never thought about a Portal movie even though I love the franchise, but if there was to be one, I’d want it to be shot in the style of Portal: No Escape.  The short takes a gritty look at what it’d be like if the cells at Aperture Science and those test subjects that inhabit them were real.  In this case Trachtenberg focuses on Chell, the protagonists from the games, and how she first comes to realize the power of the portal gun, as well as the hopelessness of her situation.

The look, feel, and sound are perfected to the point where I was completely engaged in watching this 6 minute short, and I’m still thinking about how deep it was.  It is hands down one of the greatest gaming in real life movies I’ve ever seen, so what are you waiting for?  Hit play, and if you can do so watch it in HD on a large screen with stellar sound.  You’ve been wishing that the Mortal Kombat Legacy was half as good as this Portal short…
