Prey 2 Officially Delayed but not Cancelled According to Bethesda

Bethesda informed the media today that Prey 2, which was planned to release in 2012 has been shelved for the time being.  The game has not been cancelled, but the developers need more time to provide a polished gameplay experience.  I’m sure this announcement isn’t puckering anyone’s bungholes, but I kind of was looking forward to seeing where this series would be taken in Prey 2.  The first game was one of the original titles for the fledgling Xbox 360 console, and it honestly wasn’t that bad.  Oh well, for now Prey 2’s release date is uncertain, but it’s definitely not coming out this year.  You can read Bethesda’s full statement below.  You didn’t even know there was a video game franchise called Prey…

Prey 2 Delay Notice

“Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.”
