Producer for FX’s ‘Legion’ Provides Insight to the Show
Fox announced last week that they were introducing two new television shows surrounding lesser-known X-Men characters. Though Fox currently holds the rights to the mutant universe, they worked with Marvel to make the shows more appealing. Legion will be shown on FX, and is based on the schizophrenic, antihero son of Professor Charles Xavier. Noah Hawley, the producer of FX’s hit Fargo, revealed some details behind Legion, which he will be producing as well:
“What I really like about him is, here’s a character who is schizophrenic on some level, a character struggling with mental illness. Is he crazy or does he have these powers? The answer is kind of both. I’m a big believer that the structure of a story should reflect the content of the story. And so I liked the idea that if you have a character that doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not real, that is also the audience’s journey.”
Fox will in turn develop Hellfire, based on the members of The Hellfire Club who oppose the X-Men in an attempt for mutant supremacy. The group was seen in the 2011 film X-Men: First Class and featured Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost, Azazel, Angel Salvadore, and Riptide.
