PS4 1.6 Update Adds Pulse Support, Gold Wireless Headset Inbound

Sony has revealed that the latest system update for the PS4 (1.6) will finally add support for the Pulse and Pulse Elite wireless headsets. The update should be live later today, and once it is installed gamers will be able to enjoy 7.1 wireless surround sound via the Pulse family of headsets. These headsets will also double as a mic for crystal clear voice chat.

To sweeten the deal Sony has also unveiled a brand new Gold Wireless Headset that will offer 7.1 surround sound and custom sound profiles for created by game developers for PlayStation titles. The Gold Wireless headsets will retail for $99, and are set to hit retail early this February.

SCEA will also release a new headset companion app that will allow gamers to download specific sound profiles for games when they use the Pulse Elite headset and the Gold Wireless headset. This functionality will provide the exact sound levels for individual games in the ideal way that the developers deem to be perfect.

Ultimately audiophiles should be quite pleased by these new innovative headsets for the PS4, especially thanks to the headset companion app. It should also be noted that the Gold Wireless headset will also work with the PS3, PC/Mac, and the PS Vita. Quite frankly they should work with most devices that sport a 3.5 mm headset jack. Head on down below to check out a video reveal for the Gold Wireless headset.
