Star Wars fanboys around the globe dropped a major load in their pants today when Microsoft officially announced the rumored R2-D2 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle. I wrote about this a few weeks ago, but it has now been confirmed by Gizmodo. The Xbox 360 itself is configured to look like everyone’s favorite little astromech droid, while the controllers are modeled after his golden life mate C-3PO. To top it all off the Kinect sensor itself has a matte white finish to match the R2 console.
As much as it pains me to admit this I have to say that I’m quite taken by the R2D-D2 Xbox 360, which shouldn’t surprise any of you if you’ve been following my ramblings over the past year. I’m such a sucker for odd Star Wars collectibles, which will undoubtedly land me in the poor house one day for sure. The custom bundle will set Star Wars fanboys back a hefty $449 large ones, but I’m sure most uber-fans won’t even take that into consideration. For that price gamers will get the special R2D2 console with custom console sounds, a gold C3P0-style controller, an all-white Kinect, Star Wars Kinect, Kinect Adventures, and a 320GB hard drive!
Star Wars Fanboy’s Wet Dream..
Considering I’ve purchased or returned 5 Xbox 360’s since 2005, I’m not entirely sure if I can even convince myself let alone the boss if I can buy yet another f*cking Xbox, especially one that comes in close to $500 bucks after taxes. It ain’t easy being a fanboy folks! It’s going to be hard to pass up because as you’ll see below R2 makes a perfect videogame playing machine that any Star Wars fan would kill to have in their collection. For now I’m going to practice some restraint and pretend like this custom console isn’t even real, but who knows what’ll happen when it hits store shelves this Holiday Season. Check out a linked video for the R2-D2 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle with C-3PO controllers below. You’ve been thinking if anything that you’d like to score some golden-rod controllers to eventually smash…
