Rachel McAdams has officially joined the cast of Marvel’s Doctor Strange opposite the lead of Benedict Cumberbatch. Rumors were circulating that McAdams may be joining soon after season two of True Detective finished airing on HBO. McAdams also appeared in the boxing film Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal, and in Cameron Crowe’s Aloha. It’s unclear at this time what character she’ll be portraying, but based on the comics she could play Clea, a sorceress who both disciples and loves Doctor Strange. The film also stars Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, with rumors of Mads Mikkelsen in a villainous role.
The film set slated for a November 4th, 2016 release.
