Ratchet & Clank, Insomniac Games’ 2002 smash hit, is largely responsible for ushering in a new era of quirky characters and action-platformers. The charming titular duo became near-instant mascots for Sony, inspiring well over a dozen of sequels and spin offs.

Now, it looks like the dynamic duo are teaming up once more in Ratchet & Clank, a modern re-imagining of the classic title.

Set to release in 2016, Ratchet & Clank will release on the PlayStation 4. The trailer accompanying the game’s announcement (seen above) shows off some genuinely impressive in-game visuals and awesome new weaponry.

2016’s Ratchet & Clank is not only a re-imagining of the PS2 title, but also a companion piece to the upcoming film starring Ratchet and his companion Clank.

As it stands, Insomniac seems to be intent on creating a game that is faithful to the original game, but with modern updates and a new approach.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to see just how the game turns out.
